Most alarm systems consist of CPU, keypad, siren, burglar detection devices such as door sensors and motion detectors, back-up battery, alarm jack and Protected by Reed Security signage. You can enhance your alarm system by adding fire protection devices, panic devices, and environmental protection devices. Our
Rapid Response Monitoring stations are standing by 24 hours a day ready to notify and/or dispatch the proper authorities when an alarm signal is received.
There are three main alarm types:
A
hard-wired system has cabling between all the detection devices and your system CPU (usually near your electrical panel). Hard-wired systems are the most cost-effective and have the lowest maintenance - there is only one battery to replace in the future. Hard-wired systems are best suited for most residences or businesses with an unfinished or suspended T-bar ceiling. Reed Security's professionally trained technician crew can install a full security package in half a day.
A
wireless system uses wireless technology and there are no cables between the detection devices and the system CPU (usually near a phone outlet). Wireless systems are the quickest to install, but the equipment costs are a little pricier and require higher maintenance. Each detection device has a battery that must be replaced from time to time. Wireless systems are best suited for most residences and businesses with finished ceilings or those requiring a quick installation. A crew can install a full wireless package in under two hours.
A
hybrid system uses a combination of cabling and wireless technology. The CPU, keypad, and siren are wired and some or all of the detection devices are wireless. Hybrid systems are often used with customized commercial installations. An example of this would be adding a wireless panic pendant “man down” system onto an existing hard wired configuration. When you calculate the time and material of installing a hard-wired detection a long distance from the system CPU, you can save by using a wireless device.
