New & Noteworthy

YWCA SASKATOON NAMED FIRST COMMUNITY CAMERAS RECIPIENT

At Reed Security, one of our core values is Care. We talk a lot about protecting the communities we serve, but recently, we decided to put our tools where our mouth is.

We are incredibly proud to announce the successful installation of our inaugural Community Cameras project, and the very first recipient is the truly deserving YWCA Saskatoon.

They are currently putting the finishing touches on a brand-new, 90-space childcare center located at 140 Wall Street. This facility is a much-needed extension of the amazing work they already do at their 25th Street location, and we wanted to ensure their new space was as safe and secure as possible.

Trading Our Desks for Toolbelts

To make this massive project happen, we did something unprecedented: we completely shut down the Reed Security office for the day.

We formed cross-departmental installation teams to get the work done together.

The Experts: Our experienced technicians stepped up as project team leads, guiding the process from start to finish.

The Rookies: Members of our sales, admin, and support teams traded their everyday tasks for non-traditional roles, pulling wire, mounting cameras, and learning the ropes.

It was a phenomenal day of hands-on learning, cross-training, and team building. Getting out from behind our screens to physically build a safer environment was the ultimate expression of how much we care about our community.

Peace of Mind for Local Families

For the YWCA, safety isn't just a feature; it's a necessity.

Carla Huntington, the VP of Development & Engagement at the YWCA, shared that security is top of mind for their organization. The families dropping off their children at the new 140 Wall Street location need to know their kids are in a safe, monitored environment. Providing that ultimate peace of mind is exactly what the Community Cameras project is designed to do.

Carla also mentioned how easy and pleasant the grant process was, noting that without community support and great security, they wouldn't be able to do the vital work they do.

Does Your Non-Profit Need Smarter Security?

We couldn’t be happier with how our first Community Cameras installation turned out, and we are already looking forward to the next one.

If you are part of a local non-profit organization that could benefit from a state-of-the-art security system, we want to hear from you!

WHEN WE'RE NOT PROTECTING PEOPLE & PROPERTY, WE'RE CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

At Reed Security, our commitment goes far beyond our daily operations. True security is about more than cameras and access control - it’s about uplifting the people around us and fostering a community where everyone can thrive.

That’s why our team recently stepped out of the office and into an icing station to volunteer for the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.

If you've been to a Tim Hortons this week, you know the drill: buying a freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie isn't just a sweet treat; it’s a direct investment in the local community. Every year, Tim Hortons franchise owners donate 100% of the proceeds from these cookies to local charities.

This year, the impact hits incredibly close to home for us.

The proceeds from the Saskatoon Smile Cookie campaign are directly supporting two phenomenal local organizations that we are exceptionally proud to call our clients:

Roadways Literacy Academy: An incredible organization dedicated to empowering young minds right here in Saskatoon through specialized dyslexia education. They are changing the trajectory of students' lives by providing the tools and environment they need to succeed.

Hope's Home: A trailblazing organization providing medically inclusive childcare. They ensure that children with complex medical needs, alongside their peers, have a safe, supportive, and joyful place to learn and grow.

Seeing the dedication these organizations have to Saskatoon families makes it an absolute honor for our team to roll up our sleeves, grab some icing bags, and help decorate. We might be security experts by trade, but we poured a lot of heart into getting those smiles just right!

How You Can Help

When businesses and individuals support local causes, the impact multiplies. The Smile Cookie campaign runs until Sunday, May 3rd.

Whether you're grabbing your morning coffee or picking up a box of cookies for your own office, we highly encourage you to add a Smile Cookie to your order. It’s a small purchase that makes a massive difference for the families relying on Roadways Literacy Academy and Hope's Home.

Thank you for helping us support Saskatoon!

CONGRATS RIDERS ON WINNING THE GREY CUP!

This kind of win hits different in Saskatchewan.

When the Riders bring the Cup home, the whole province feels it.

Cities, small towns, farms, families – everyone gets a lift.

Moments like this remind us how football can unite an entire province and give people a shot of pride we all share.

Well done Riders. The Cup is home.

1,500 SMILES, ONE VERY HAPPY DAY!

Big news.

On May 25th, 2025 we threw a party - Reed Security’s 25th Birthday - and 1,500 people showed up. Clients, families, staff, vendor partners, friends, and our community all came together to celebrate at Gather Local Market in downtown Saskatoon.

We called it BOUNCEFEST, and yeah - it was a lot of fun:
The most bouncy castles ever assembled in downtown Saskatoon.

But it wasn’t just about bounce. It was about connection. Laughter. Gratitude. And the kind of collaboration you only get when Partners show up for each other.
